Barcelona open
In the PIF ATP Rankings, Carlos Alcaraz is currently ranked third.Submitted by the ATP Staff
The injury that Carlos Alcaraz sustained to his right arm caused him to be forced to withdraw from the ATP 500 tournament, which means that he will not be able to defend his title at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.
This is the same injury that prevented the player who is currently ranked third in the PIF ATP Rankings from competing in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters this week. At this point, Alcaraz will be hoping to make his debut on clay courts in 2024 at the Mutua Madrid Open, which is also the tournament where he has won the trophy in the previous two years.
Alcaraz, who is only 20 years old, has a record of 15-4 so far in 2024. This record includes a run to his fifth ATP Masters 1000 title, which he successfully won at Indian Wells.
Rafael Nadal, who holds the record for the most consecutive titles won, is still in the draw for the Barcelona tournament. He will face Flavio Cobolli, an Italian player, in the first round of the tournament.
