Chicago White Sox and former Seattle Mariners flamethrower headed to the New York Mets in a minor trade
Yohan Ramirez, a right-handed reliever, was traded to the New York Mets after spending the last few seasons in and out of the major leagues.
Right-handed reliever Yohan Ramirez, who had been up and down the major league ranks for the past few seasons, was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the New York Mets.
In exchange, the White Sox received cash. It had just been decided to assign Ramirez a task.
Hard thrower Ramirez, 28, joined the Seattle Mariners in 2020 and began his career. From 2020 to a portion of 2022, he pitched for the M’s before moving on to play for the White Sox, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. This past season, he made 31 appearances in the major leagues, finishing 1-0 with a 4.23 ERA.
He pitched 38.1 innings for Pittsburgh and Chicago, which was the most innings he had ever pitched in a career.
The Mets should give him a try because he consistently puts up respectable strikeout totals.
From another Ramirez story on MLBTradeRumors:
As a big leaguer, he has pitched 124 innings with a 3.99 ERA, striking out 23.2% of his opponents while walking a rate of 12.5%, which is significantly higher than the league average. Early in his career, Ramirez was a fly-ball pitcher. However, in 2022, he changed from being a four-seamer to a two-seamer, and ever since, he has been a prominent ground-ball pitcher (54.1%).
The Mets bullpen may find his newly acquired groundball-grabbing skill helpful in their quest to improve upon their National League East fourth-place result.
Currently, New York is only adding names to their pitching staff and waiting to see how spring training plays out before overhauling the entire staff.
