Paval Zacha scored and assisted as the Boston Bruins defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-0 on Thursday to end a three-game losing run.
Both Danton Heinen and Jake DeBrusk scored. After being yanked in Monday’s 5-2 loss to Columbus, Jeremy Swayman stopped all 28 shots for his second shutout of the season.
David Pastrnak added two assists as the Bruins defeated the NHL-worst Sharks for the 13th straight.
San Jose, which won two games, had 32 saves from MacKenzie Blackwood.
After both teams wasted power-play chances in a scoreless first period, Heinen scored his third goal of the season at 1:38 into the second. San Jose had a chance to clear the ball, but Matt Poitras slid a backhand pass to Heinen, who cruised through the circle alone and beat Blackwood.
Boston’s lead increased to 2-0 at 8:10 when DeBrusk beat Blackwood with a backhand after great puck movement. DeBrusk scored his third goal in five games with Zacha and Pastrnak assists.
San Jose got a 5-on-3 with 25.5 seconds left. Following Charlie McAvoy’s boarding penalty and Brad Marchand’s two-minute fight penalty, the Sharks failed to score in the third period on the power play.
Pastrnak and Zacha exchanged passes for a power-play goal at 6:37 of the third. 20 assists for Pastrnak.
Second-half dominance gave Boston an 18-6 shooting edge. Shots were 35-28 against San Jose.
The Sharks are 0-10-0 away this season. A six-game journey began with the first of three games in four days.
