The Detroit Tigers are purportedly not done with their search for a starting pitcher, despite having acquired veteran right-hander Kenta Maeda this offseason.
It has been reported that the Detroit Tigers are continuing their search for a starting pitcher throughout the offseason.
General manager Scott Harris has stated that the club still expects to make other acquisitions, despite the fact that this week they signed experienced right-handed pitcher Kenta Maeda to a contract that runs for two years.

It would appear like Harris made the right choice, especially when considering the multiple injury worries that afflict the Tigers’ coaching staff.
A few years ago, when the organization first started the process of rebuilding, pitching was the primary focus of the organization. However, since then, the group has been unable to sustain its health.
Following Tommy John’s surgery, Casey Mize was sidelined for the entirety of 2023 and a significant portion of 2022. Additionally, Matt Manning has also been sidelined for a significant amount of time over the course of the past two years. Another player that was out for the duration of 2023 was Tarik Skubal.
Despite the fact that all three look to be in good health as the year 2024 draws near, they have shown that they cannot be counted upon. In addition, Eduardo Rodriguez was taken out of the lineup during the offseason, and Maeda is getting close to turning 35 years old, all of which are factors that raise more concerns about the durability of the rotation.
In spite of the fact that it is not known whether the Tigers would spend a significant amount of money on free agents like Yoshinobu Yamamoto or Blake Snell, they have a large number of solid alternatives that are in the middle of the pack, including Michael Wacha.
