The Bengals of Cincinnati cut former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron.
At the conclusion of the 2023 season, former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was formally dismissed by the Cincinnati Bengals. After being selected by the team in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft, McCarron was in his second tenure with the group.
Week 11 versus the Baltimore Ravens resulted in ligament damage to Bengals starting quarterback Joe Burrow, which kept him out of the game for the whole season. In order to add some depth at the quarterback position, McCarron was first added to the practice squad on September 23, 2023, as a backup. On December 4, he was formally activated on the active roster. This year, he has made two appearances and completed four of five throws for 19 yards.
Therefore, McCarron will be looking for a new home coming into the 2024 season, which will be his tenth in the league. Regardless of the league, McCarron is a guy who merely likes football and wants to play. He has also played for the XFL’s St. Louis BattleHawks.
