Gasly Targets Top-Five Finish for Alpine in 2025.

The 2025 Formula 1 season is shaping up to be an exciting and closely contested campaign, with teams aiming to improve on last year’s results. Alpine, which struggled with an overweight car in 2024, has made significant strides, particularly in the second half of the season, thanks to a remarkable double podium finish in Brazil that propelled them to sixth place.

For the upcoming season, Alpine’s Pierre Gasly is ambitious and confident, aiming for a top-five finish in the constructors’ championship. While he wouldn’t rule out achieving even more, he believes that this target is achievable, especially considering the regulatory stability leading up to the major technical overhaul in 2026.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner shares a similar sentiment, anticipating a tight and competitive field in the 2025 season. Despite the record-breaking 2024 season, which saw seven drivers take multiple grand prix wins and four constructors claim at least four victories each, Horner expects the usual suspects, including Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes, to be at the forefront of the competition.

However, the British team principal notes that the 2025 season will be about marginal gains and extracting the most from every weekend. With the regulatory stability in place, Horner believes that there won’t be a significant change in the pecking order, making it an open championship that will be a true test of the teams’ and drivers’ abilities.

The 2024 season was marked by an unprecedented level of competitiveness, with seven drivers achieving multiple grand prix wins. This has set the bar high for the 2025 season, and the teams will need to find ways to improve their performances and stay ahead of the competition. Alpine, in particular, has made significant strides in the second half of last season, and with Gasly’s confidence and Horner’s optimism, it will be interesting to see how the team performs in the upcoming season.

Alpine’s struggles with an overweight car in 2024 made it difficult for the team to make a strong start to the season. However, the double podium finish in Brazil marked a significant turning point for the team, and they went on to finish the season in sixth place. This improvement gives Gasly and the rest of the team valuable experience and momentum heading into the 2025 season.

Gasly’s ambition is not only a reflection of his own confidence but also a reflection of the team’s growth and development. With the regulatory stability in place, Alpine can focus on fine-tuning their car and making marginal gains, which should enable them to stay competitive with the top teams.

Horner’s comments about the 2025 season being about marginal gains and extracting the most from every weekend highlight the importance of attention to detail and the need for teams to be creative in their approach. It’s not just about having a competitive car; it’s also about making the most of every opportunity and minimizing mistakes.

The 2025 season will be an exciting and closely contested campaign, with four teams – Red Bull, McLaren, Ferrari, and Mercedes – expected to be at the forefront of the competition. The fact that these teams are expected to be strong again in the 2025 season suggests that the championship will be open and unpredictable, with any of the four teams potentially capable of winning it.

In the context of the Autosport Awards, where Gasly and Horner were interviewed by Motorsport.com, the excitement and optimism surrounding the 2025 season are palpable. It’s clear that both the driver and the team principal are eager to get back on track and make a strong impression in the upcoming season.

However, the expectations around the 2025 season also put pressure on the teams to deliver. With the top four teams in the constructors’ championship expected to be strong, the others will need to make significant strides to compete with them. This means that teams like Alpine, which have shown promise in the second half of last season, will need to build on their momentum and make the most of their opportunities.

Ultimately, the 2025 season promises to be an exciting and closely contested campaign, with teams vying for the top spots in the constructor’s championship. With Alpine’s ambition and confidence, Horner’s optimism, and the competitiveness of the top four teams, it’s clear that this season will be a true test of the teams’ and drivers’ abilities.
