No player has led the NFL three times since sacks were first recorded as an official individual statistic in 1982.The first may be T.J. Watt, an outside linebacker with the Steelers.
With 17 sacks this season, Watt, who led the NFL in sacks in both 2020 and 2021, is presently tied for the league lead. He will become the first player in league history to hold the lead in three separate seasons if he remains the leader following Sunday’s games.
A number of players, including Watt’s older brother, J.J. Watt, led the NFL in sacks in both 2012 and 2015. Watt is not the only player to have led the league in sacks in two separate seasons. Jared Allen, Marcus Ware, Michael Strahan, Kevin Greene, Reggie White, and Mark Gastineau are among the others who have completed the task.
Additionally, unofficial numbers maintained at Pro Football Reference show that Deacon Jones led the NFL five times prior to sacks becoming a recognized metric.
After an injury-plagued season the previous year, Watt recovered to become one of the NFL’s best pass rushers. among the greatest of all time.
Ravens vs. Steelers: The final injury report includes nine players.
When the Pittsburgh Steelers visit Baltimore on Saturday to play the Ravens without Lamar Jackson, they will once again be in a position to win.
The Steelers might be a little shorthanded coming into Charm City because of injuries to some players and a lack of practice time for others.
The injury and participation report for Week 18’s last practice is as follows:
QB Kenny Pickett
S Trenton Thompson
RB Najee Harris
S Minkah Fitzpatrick
LB Elandon Roberts
G Isaac Seumalo
LB T.J. Watt
DT Cam Heyward
LB Myles Jack
With several players labeled as questionable, the Steelers concluded their practice in anticipation of their Saturday matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
Linebacker Elandon Roberts and safeties Trenton Thompson and Minkah Fitzpatrick are all doubtful for the contest. On Thursday, they were all limited in practice.
Roberts did seem positive following practice on Thursday—very hopeful, in fact.
Roberts declared, “I think I am ready to depart.” “I’ll play if I’m able to. I’m not a fan of missing out. if my level of health and satisfaction is sufficient.
“I’m leaving. I’m having fun.
Even though the Ravens may not be playing with all of their starters, Roberts stated that at this stage of the season, you also know what to anticipate from your opponent.
Roberts declared, “We are going to do what we do.” “All teams are aware of who they are at this stage of the season. The Ravens are familiar to us. We are known to the Ravens. Why feel afraid? They were given the menu. We also understood it. They received the menu, just like the other teams. All we need to do is stop them.”
Fitzpatrick has missed six games so far this season due to injuries to his ankle and hamstring.
The Steelers have had to rely on a number of strategies to win while he has been sidelined.
Heyward stated, “Guys have been hurt, and we needed them to step up.” “It could have been the inside linebacker, d-line, safeties, or someone switching corners. That’s just the way things are. That’s just part of the game, but it speaks volumes about how these guys just stay focused, poised, and attentive during meetings.
“You can prepare for the time when your number is called, but you never know when it will.”
