Despite Injuries, Michigan football’s Leading Tackler Is Expected To Play Against Alabama
In less than a week, Michigan will play its biggest game of the year in the Rose Bowl against Alabama.
The goal of the Wolverines’ semi-final College Football Playoff game is to win for the first time ever. Even though a top defensive player is dealing with unidentified injuries, he still intends to participate. Since playing Purdue on November 4, linebacker Junior Colson has been seen with a cast on his hand. Colson wore two casts when he recently spoke with the media.
On New Year’s Day, the top tackler claims that won’t hold him out against the Crimson Tide. Colson told reporters, “I assume they’re still going to be in the cast for the game.” They remain in the current cast. Still, I’ll be alright.
Colson has been a member of the squad for three years and has never missed a football game. He leads the Wolverines’ defense with 79 tackles. With 101 last season, Colson led the team as well.
At Michigan’s award ceremony, the middle linebacker was just awarded the team’s hardest player. He’s determined not to let his hand injuries stop him from competing in the Rose Bowl. Colson remarked, “You’re going to be beat up a little bit because that’s football.
“You’re never really recovered unless it’s summer. I feel fantastic. As we approach this game, I believe that our entire defense—our entire team—feels fantastic. We’re thrilled. Everything else is incidental. Colson is one of the many leaders on the Michigan defense, despite the fact that he is only a junior and that a senior must be in order to be a captain.
Jesse Minter, the defensive coordinator, praises Colson for his perseverance and temperament in the face of obstacles. Minter praised Junior’s desire to give up everything for his teammates, Michigan, and this program, saying, “That’s what I love about him.”
“The guys have witnessed the difficulties he has faced this year. Colson, the Michigan defense’s guy in the middle, may be expected to watch Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe. Against the Tide, tackling will be crucial due to the deceptive nature of the Alabama quarterback.
Milroe is not just a terrific passer; he can also outmuscle you. He has run for 468 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, leading the squad.
Minter is eager to watch Colson and his teammates on the field when Michigan plays in Pasadena because he thinks Colson is as reliable a tackler as they come for the Wolverines. “He remains a very reliable tackler despite his incredible athleticism, size, speed, and agility,” Minter remarked. I’m eager to watch him play against these guys when he goes out there.
The reason K-State didn’t lose any recruits before signing day is explained by Chris Klieman. Even after a wild few weeks, the Wildcats managed to make it to signing day without losing any football recruits to other teams.
