The Green Bay Packers appeared to be bound for a dismal finish to their first season without star quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading the way behind center after a terrible start to the 2023 NFL regular season.
Although the jury is still out on rookie quarterback Jordan Love, the Packers understood it was a risky move to send Rodgers to the New York Jets. However, Love eventually showed the team that they made the correct choice and that the franchise is in capable hands going forward.
After securing an NFC playoff berth, Green Bay stunned everyone by defeating the Dallas Cowboys on the road at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
In the NFL playoffs, Love and Company shocked the second-seeded Cowboys and came dangerously close to pulling off another upset against the San Francisco 49ers in the divisional round.
The Packers demonstrated that a bright future is ahead of them even though their season ended in the Bay Area.
But according to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the team still needs to make changes this summer, and one of those changes might include renegotiating the contract of standout running back Aaron Jones.
Despite playing in just 11 games, Jones finished the season with 656 running yards and two touchdowns on 142 carries, despite the Packers’ overall success.
Still a formidable player in the passing game, Jones also caught 30 passes for 233 receiving yards and a touchdown.
