Sean Dyche is currently under fire for the “stubborn” error that cost Everton the match against Wolves.
Everton under Sean Dyche has just had four straight losses, a terrible run of form, and he is now receiving criticism.
In a disastrous manner, Everton suffered their fourth straight defeat over the weekend as the Wolves utterly destroyed the Toffees.
Sean Dyche was powerless to stop Wolves from hammering Everton 3-0, and even that result is kind given Gary O’Neil’s team’s plenty of opportunities.
This outcome came after three earlier losses over the holiday season, which in a sense marred Dyche’s winning streak before it. The losses were against Fulham in the League Cup, Manchester City, and Spurs in the league.
Following Wolves’ defeat, Everton’s atmosphere has changed, with Dyche now the target of criticism.
Michael Ball criticised a “stubborn” Dyche in his essay for the Liverpool Echo, citing his unwillingness to make the required changes against Wolves.
You were thinking, “He ought to fix this,” but he didn’t, even though wolves were on top of us.
Ball went on to say that Dyche had the chance to do so but chose not to.
At the interval, he was given the chance, but he declined. Dyche might have believed “we’re still in this,” despite the fact that the Wolves were all over us.
He then focused on Dyche’s criticism of him, calling it obstinate and stating that it represents a serious vulnerability for Everton.
“We understand that Dyche is adamant, as many managers are, but when things aren’t going your way, you need to produce results.”
Dyche needs Everton to have another successful run of play.
Everton’s current situation is very different from what it was a few weeks ago. Now that the team’s exuberance has dissipated, Dyche needs to gather his thoughts and establish consistency as Everton gets closer to a relegation struggle.
With zero points over the Christmas break, the Toffees have retreated into a struggle for relegation. Luton Town are only one point behind the Toffees, with a game against them coming up.
As a result, Everton has to produce a run of results similar to their victories over Newcastle, Burnley, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest earlier in December.
