Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles shockingly reveals his favorite Tom Brady roaster
The head coach of the Buccaneers recently talked to Rich Eisen about The Roast of Tom Brady.
There has never been an event like the Tom Brady Roast. A long list of celebrities and former New England Patriots cracked jokes about the greatest quarterback of all time during the three-hour program. The bulk of Brady’s career was highlighted at the event, while his stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers received less emphasis. In addition to revealing his favorite roaster, head coach Todd Bowles recently discussed his opinions on The Roast of Tom Brady.
The head coach of the Buccaneers disclosed that he hasn’t had a chance to see the roast on a recent episode of The Rich Eisen Show. But he’s a big fan of Nikki Glaser and he expects to have fun seeing her make fun of NFL icons.
“I saw glimpses of it,” Bowles remarked. “I’m a big fan of Nikki Glaser, so I try to watch any roasts that she is in. I missed it that evening, but I’ll make up for it this weekend.”
That the cool-headed coach is a major fan of a pornographic comedian such as Nikki Glaser is shocking.
“I’m a big fan of Nikki Glaser,” Bowles went on. “I watch any roast she’s on.”
For the brief time that Brady spent with the Buccaneers, Todd Bowles served as his head coach. Bowles avoided getting blasted by his favorite comedian by choosing not to attend the event. Bill Belichick, Brady’s other coach, was present and got skewered by comedians and former NFL players, including Tom Brady.
A sizable ensemble of comedians, celebrities, and NFL players participated in The Roast of Tom Brady. Not just Tom Brady was targeted for roasting; it appeared OK to go after any of the celebrities present at the function.
Highlights from The Roast of Tom Brady
Here is a roundup of some of the best highlights from the evening.
On Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen’s divorce
“Gisele gave you an ultimatum,” says host Kevin Hart. “She said you have to retire or you’re done. But when you have a chance to go 8–9, you gotta do it.”
Julian Edelman, Drew Bledsoe roasted Bill Belichick about not having a coaching job
“Do your job? More like, need a job, coach.” Edelman joked.
“There were rumors Coach Belichick was going to be here tonight,” Bledsoe said. “Turns out he has some time on his hands. Look, at least when I was fired, somebody else wanted me.”
Jokes about Gronk
Bill Belichick poked fun at Gronkowski’s broadcasting gig on FOX.
Tom Brady also made a jab at both Gronk and Aaron Hernandez. Gronkowski and Brady played together both with the Patriots and Buccaneers.
“Despite everything we’ve seen here tonight, Gronk was actually useful on the field,” Brady said. “Although the bar for Patriots tight ends was pretty low back then: block, catch, don’t murder.”
Brady makes jokes about Belichick
Finally, Brady cracked a couple of jokes about his former head coach.
“Everybody asks me which ring is my favorite, I used to say, The next one,’” Brady said. “But now that I am retired, my favorite Ring is the camera that caught Coach Belichick slinking out of that poor girl’s house a few months ago.
“Hey, you still go it. Respect baby.”
The video Brady is referencing is one of Belichick appearing to be caught on camera leaving someone’s house. It was leaked late in 2023 and it is unknown when the video was taken.
