Fitzpatrick discusses being sidelined due to an injury.
Fitzpatrick experienced mood swings, with some days being “easy” and others—particularly on game days—being “definitely tough.” He did, however, mention how he “tried to stay engaged” by “paying attention to what is going on around me” in addition to talking with teammates and coaches to improve the Steelers.
“I made a sincere effort to remain involved—not by speaking out or interacting all the time. But staying put,” Fitzpatrick remarked. “Being aware of my surroundings, the small things, and the conversations that are taking place in this building and in the locker room.” What they are communicating, what they are saying. I was making an effort to pay attention to everything that was going on and correct some things that were being spoken, whether discreetly or overtly. I had the required discussions.
Fitzpatrick discusses the things he needs to improve on for the next season.
Despite his difficulties, he finished with 64 total tackles, three passes deflected, and was chosen for his fourth Pro Bowl. He was chosen for three NFL All-Pro first teams after being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2018 draft before being traded to the Steelers.
“I had the chance to remain still and truly understand what was happening, which is why I realized I needed to work on it. Fitzpatrick went on, “You can lose sight of all the little details or become nose blind to what is going on around you when you are in the thick of it, game planning and scheming. “I want to do this more often because I had time to be conscious of what was happening. I want to set aside time to be in my natural habitat. Hear more of the conversations occurring in the changing area. Pay attention to what’s happening upstairs. I want to put that into practice going forward.
Fitzpatrick previously stated that his main objective for the upcoming season is to maintain his health and take the Steelers’ defense to new heights by the fall of 2024.Pittsburgh’s season ended with a loss to the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Playoffs wild card round, despite finishing with a 10-7 record that was good for third in the AFC North.
