Atlanta Falcons suspends head football coach after report of harassment allegations
Athletic director Alan Haller stated at a press conference that, while a third-party investigation concluded in July, there were still unresolved issues that needed to be addressed. A hearing was set for October.
Tucker’s suspension was made public following a report by USA Today alleging that he had harassed a rape survivor and activist, with whom he had a business tie, sexually.
Tucker, who began working at the school in 2020, is one of the highest-paid coaches in sports after agreeing to a 10-year, $95 million deal extension, according to the Lansing State Journal.
As a head coach, he had a 23-21 (.523) record. That consists of one season at the University of Colorado and three at Michigan State.
Tucker’s unpaid suspension was characterized by Haller as a temporary, conditional action on Sunday.
At the press conference on Sunday, interim university president Teresa K. Woodruff stated that the Michigan State University of today is fostering a friendly, encouraging, and compassionate atmosphere.
