Baker Mayfield QB of buccaneers file a divorce.
Mayfield has had a busy week. On Tuesday, his team faced the estranged quarterback Deshaun Watson of the Texans. However, it seems that the Saints, Falcons, and Panthers are the only three NFC South teams left in the running for Watson’s services.
Mayfield, who was chosen first overall by the Browns in 2018, wrote an emotional letter to Cleveland earlier this week in response to the Watson meeting. A lot of people thought it was a farewell letter.
Mayfield, 26, sent a statement to his social media platforms stating, “The past four years have been nothing short of truly life changing moment I heard my name called in the draft to go to Cleveland.”
There is no hidden meaning to this message. “This is solely to express my gratitude to the city of Cleveland for welcoming my family and me,” he said. “I have no idea what will happen next, which explains my quiet throughout this process,” he said later. I’m limited to what I can control, which is to have faith in God’s plan at all times.
The Browns still see Mayfield as their quarterback going forward, despite rumors of a possible divorce, NFL Network reported on Thursday. However, the team reportedly informed the quarterback’s camp at this month’s Scouting Combine that “they’d only study top-tier QBs such as Watson” in the same sentence.
