Whether Verstappen will stay with Red Bull until the end of his long contract with the team has been the subject of constant conjecture.
However, Fernando Alonso has stated that he thinks there is very little likelihood that Vertappen will leave the Austrian team, despite the ongoing rumors.
When asked if Verstappen would consider switching from Red Bull to Mercedes, Alonso told the media, “I don’t think there’s any chance of it happening.”
“I’ve used my gut feeling. I’m not sure, that’s how I feel.
Despite his dissatisfaction with Christian Horner, Verstappen may be reluctant to quit Red Bull due to a lack of competitive alternatives, thus Alonso may be correct.
Verstappen is prepared to tolerate Horner
After team principal Christian Horner was accused of wrongdoing, remarks made by Jos Verstappen’s father raised rumors that his son might leave Red Bull.
However, a person close to Max Verstappen has revealed that as long as Red Bull keeps producing a competitive car, the 26-year-old is content with Horner being on the team.
Despite the flurry of speculation surrounding a possible switch from Red Bull to Mercedes, rumors currently indicate that Verstappen considers Mercedes to be an undesirable alternative in light of the team’s dismal start to the season.
Verstappen has only one choice: Red Bull.
Mercedes has not finished higher than fifth in any of the four races, while Verstappen has won three of them. The Dutchman is poised to win a fourth World Championship with Red Bull this year, having already won three in a row. With a move to Mercedes, Verstappen would probably wave this domination spell goodnight.
The only other teams that might really challenge Red Bull in the upcoming seasons are Ferrari and McLaren, both of which have announced their driver lineups for the foreseeable future.
No team is as appealing as Red Bull, even if there will be a lot of movement in the driver market at the end of the 2024 season because many driver contracts are up for renewal.
