In Week 13, the Arizona Cardinals defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium after several delays and bad weather.
The activity went like this:
The First Quarter
Kenny Pickett’s team started after the Cardinals deferred after winning the toss.
George Pickens’ 38-yard reception put the Steelers in the red zone after three plays.
Arizona’s defense held and forced a field goal. A good 29-yard field goal by Chris Boswell opened the scoring.
Cardinals 0, Steelers 3.
Kyler Murray and the Cardinals punted after three plays on their first chance.
The second Quarter
After Pittsburgh punted, the Cardinals nearly hit Rondale Moore with a deep shot, but it was bobbled and dropped incomplete, forcing Arizona to punt for the third time in four drives.
The Steelers eventually regained their offensive rhythm, building near the goal line before Pickett left with an ankle injury. The Cardinals took possession with 3:04 left in the half after Pittsburgh’s fourth-and-goal failed.
Arizona gained offensive momentum and scored. The Cardinals thought Trey McBride scored, but a lengthy review showed he didn’t catch.
Cardinals 10, Steelers 3.
Mitch Trubisky kneeled to end the half, giving the Cardinals possession to start the third quarter.
The Third Quarter
After a long weather delay, Murray and friends began play with the first drive of the second half, but were ejected after a three-and-out.
After Pickett was injured, Trubisky took the field for his first drive but lost the ball on a botched snap, causing Arizona to fall on it and cause the game’s first turnover.
James Conner scored the Cardinals’ second touchdown at the goal line after taking over in the red zone.
Cardinals 17, Steelers 3.
The Steelers maintained possession after a second rain delay and gained first downs before placing themselves in field goal position. Boswell pushed a 45-yard field goal right.
Fourth Quarter
Greg Dortch made a great catch on a third-and-12 to keep Arizona moving on the first play of the fourth quarter.
A long Rondale Moore reception nearly scored for the Cardinals, but a holding call canceled it. Arizona punted two plays later.
The Cardinals took possession at the PIT 33 after a facemask penalty on their punt coverage after the Steelers went three-and-out.
Arizona’s lead was extended when James Conner scored his second touchdown of the day.
Cardinals 24, Steelers 3.
However, the Steelers didn’t surrender. With 4:25 left, Trubisky and Pittsburgh scored on a two-yard Diontae Johnson touchdown pass against light Cardinal coverage.
Cardinals 24, Steelers 10.
The Cardinals had possession and never lost it, winning.
