Just in: Following a proposal in Spain, an Oilers player is set to wed his sweetheart.

Leon Draisaitl, the Edmonton Oilers’ 28-year-old star centre, is now engaged to his girlfriend, actress Celeste Desjardins. Draisaitl proposed during a romantic moment by the sea on the Spanish island of Mallorca, and shared the news on Instagram with photos of the event and a heartfelt caption, “Forever,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

Celeste Desjardins, also 28 and a native of Sudbury, Ontario, has made a name for herself in the television industry, featuring in shows like ‘Taken’ and ‘Fashionably in Love.’ She also shared the joyous news on her Instagram account, expressing her love and excitement with the words, “The easiest yes. I love you forever.”

This engagement follows closely after the Oilers’ intense Game 7 matchup in the Stanley Cup Final, where they were narrowly defeated by the Florida Panthers. Draisaitl is currently approaching the end of his eight-year contract with the Oilers.

Adding to the celebratory mood, another Oilers star, Connor McDavid, is set to marry his longtime girlfriend, Lauren Kyle, on July 27. McDavid and Kyle, who announced their engagement last June, are looking forward to their upcoming wedding.
