On April 25, the Detroit Lions, who are hosting the three-day draft, had seven selections when they went into the 2024 NFL Draft.
After giving the Dallas Cowboys picks 29 and 73 in exchange for pick number 24, which they used to choose Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold, they now have six picks in 2024. In the deal, the Lions also acquired a 2025 seventh-round pick.
After going 12-5 in the regular season, winning the NFC North, and making it to the NFC Championship Game, the Lions are coming off of their best season in thirty years.
Their focus is now on the Super Bowl. Although they don’t have any obvious openings in their squad, they should draft players at defensive tackle, offensive line, edge, wide receiver, and kicker in addition to cornerback.

NFL Draft 2024 “The Beast” Guide: Player rankings and scouting reports by Dane Brugler
Round 1: Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama (via Cowboys)
How well he fits
Detroit natives were worried the Lions would trade out of the opening round. However, Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell had to answer the phone when the corners started to fall.
Detroit solves a significant need by moving up five spots, from No. 29 to No. 24. Quinyon Mitchell of Toledo and Arnold were undoubtedly the top two corners selected in this draft. the top 15 candidates on my roster.
Arnold is a wonderful fit for Detroit culture and meets a clear need for the city. He is a confident cornerback with style who enjoys working hard, receiving challenging instruction, and winning. Additionally, Arnold gets to see Brian Branch again in the updated Detroit secondary. One more excellent bargain option. Nick Baumgardner
Dane Brugler’s examination
“An athlete who has spent much of his life focusing on basketball, Arnold is fluid when he opens up with speed, body control, and the gear-down ability to stay in phase with simple or complex routes.
He has mediocre recovery skills and has to keep improving his discipline against the pass and the run, but he plays with great football sense and intensity in run support.
All things considered, Arnold has the perfect combination of competitive nature and cover athleticism, along with the ball abilities to create plays at every level of the field. He has the ability to function both inside and outside and is scheme-versatile.
“He has the skill set to be an NFL team’s top cornerback, akin to that of Jaylon Johnson of the Chicago Bears.”
