Just In: Mike Evans, All You Need to Know About His Contract.
Before Evans could enter the free agent market, the Bucs and he were able to negotiate a new contract, meaning he is currently bound to the organization through the 2025 campaign.
With the contract they handed the seasoned wide receiver, Tampa Bay not only brought back one of the best players in the team’s history, but also seemingly freed up a sizable amount of salary room (via JennaLaineESPN on Twitter).
Given that he plays in one of the league’s smaller markets, Evans probably doesn’t receive the credit he deserves for the outstanding achievements he has made in his NFL career.
Since joining the NFL in 2014, when the Bucs selected him with the seventh overall choice in the NFL Draft, he has played in ten seasons and has ended with at least 1,000 receiving yards in each of those seasons.
Evans leads the Bucs in nearly every receiving statistic in team history, of course, but he also sits third in terms of lifetime receiving yards, eighth in terms of career catches, and second in terms of career receiving touchdowns among active NFL players right now.
To become the 11th player in league history to catch at least 100 touchdown passes in a career, Evans will only need to score six touchdowns the following season.
Whether that achievement occurs in 2024 or 2025, the wide receiver will probably enjoy it while donning a Bucs uniform.
