As the Detroit Tigers get set to embark on the 2024 season, manager AJ Hinch says he is drawing inspiration from the run of the Detroit Lions and their head coach Dan Campbell this season.
Per 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit:
“I love what the Lions have done, that organization, for the city,” Hinch said this week on The Show podcast. “The fans showed up and supported this team, just like they did us down the stretch as we guided Miguel Cabrera into retirement. The fans are incredible in Detroit. If you talk to people, players, coaches, and managers that have come to Detroit, incredible sports town, incredible support of the local teams.”
Hinch said he “followed the Lions all year” and “I love the energy that Dan brought, I love the messaging that he brought, and I love the toughness that he brought.”
The Lions advanced to the NFC Championship Game last weekend, losing to the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.
As for the Tigers, they appear to be much improved heading into 2024. They finished second in the American League Central last season and have added veterans Mark Canha, Jack Flaherty, and Kenta Maeda to the group.
Furthermore, Casey Mize, Tarik Skubal, and Matt Manning appear to be healthy as a trio, and young second baseman Colt Keith is one of the top prospects in baseball. He just signed a six-year contract extension and appears ready to contribute right away in 2024.
