Following Chris Jones’ re-signing, the Kansas City Chiefs made four offseason moves, including a trade and mock draft.
To keep All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones off the open market, the Kansas City Chiefs re-signed him before the NFL free agency deadline. Even if the all-star Chiefs team is sticking together, Kansas City still has a lot of space for improvement this offseason.
Resigning Jones was the one thing Kansas City needed to do this spring more than anything else. In addition to being well-liked in the locker room, the three-time Super Bowl champion has helped the team win the Lombardi Trophy by making plays that have changed the course of games. It’s time to surround Patrick Mahomes with an even better team.

The Chiefs have four more steps to take this offseason.
To acquire draft capital and free up cap space, trade L’Jarius Sneed.
Without cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, Kansas City cannot win the Super Bowl. This past season, he was among the finest NFL coverage players, consistently turning up his best performances against elite wide receivers. He was given the franchise tag by the Chiefs, although it was just done to prevent him from entering the NFL free agency. There’s no realistic way to maintain Sneed and his $19.8 million cap charge because Jones is under contract.

Fortunately, Sneed is the most sought-after cornerback this summer since Jaylon Johnson is no longer available. The Chiefs have given his agency permission to locate him a long-term residence because he is already drawing a lot of interest. There are other options in the NFL, even though it’s probably not the greatest idea for Kansas City to trade Sneed to a different Super Bowl contender.

Atlanta Falcons: 43rd overall selection traded
Unless a team like the 49ers or Detroit Lions is prepared to go with a first-round pick, Kansas City is probably going to select the best available Round 2 pick. In order to become the top NFC South team in 2024, the Falcons may combine Sneed with the acquisition of Kirk Cousins in an effort to win now.
