Patrick Mahomes called it when he was asked about Lamar Jackson before the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship. Jackson was absolutely incredible all season, leading the Ravens to the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Losing against the Kansas City Chiefs wouldn’t matter for the NFL MVP voting. Jackson was widely considered the best player of the entire season and he got his reward for it. That 14-4 record was impressive for Jackson and his teammates, who are absolutely ecstatic for the achievement. Lamar is the youngest player in NFL history to win two MVP awards; no other star has done it so quickly.
Both teammates, Kyle Hamilton and Kyle Van Noy, spoke to Fox News Digital after the MVP was delivered to Jackson. Here is what Hamilton said: “He deserves it. We get kind of numb to it seeing it every day, seeing the stuff he does, even in games. He’ll make a crazy play, and we’re just like, ‘Damn, that’s Lamar. But, outside looking in, he’s one of them. It’s a blessing to play with him and be able to watch him up close and personal. It’s awesome, and I’m happy for him.” Apparently, that’s the exact feeling all of Jackson’s teammates within the Ravens organization share.
Van Noy also decided to highlight Jackson’s quality as a human being, saying, “He’s the MVP on the field and off the field. He does everything right. He’s an awesome teammate. He makes everyone feel included. He doesn’t make it about him. He makes it about the team, and I always respect that. And his play—everybody wants to complain about his stats. But when you watch the games, when you’re blowing people out, you’re not going to have crazy stats because he played so well in a short amount of time. Like, ‘Oh, that’s the MVP right there.’ I think a lot of people are getting lost in stats and analytics these days. But if you watch the tape, you know Lamar is the MVP, and it was evident by the votes he got.
