Landon Dickerson of the Philadelphia Eagles has agreed to a four-year contract extension.
According to Spotrac, Dickerson will participate in the 2024 season as he nears the end of his entry-level deal. In 2024, he will earn $4.89 million, with a maximum of $5.8 million.
The extension for the 25-year-old will start in 2025. The team would not disclose the deal’s financial details, but according to NFL Network, Dickerson will earn $21 million a year, making him the highest-paid guard in NFL history.
Even though the Eagles also selected Nebraska center Cam Jurgens in the second round of the 2022 draft, he was thought of at the time as Kelce’s possible replacement.
With the Eagles, Dickerson has settled in as a left guard, going to the Pro Bowl in consecutive seasons. Dickerson gave up three sacks and had a 70.0 grade last season, per Pro Football Focus.
Before rupturing his ACL in December 2020, the 6-foot-6, 332-pound O-lineman started 12 games as center during his senior season at Alabama. In the national championship game, Alabama defeated Ohio State 52-24, and Dickerson was given permission to take the game’s last snap—a kneel-down—by head coach Nick Saban of the Crimson Tide.
In consecutive drafts, Philadelphia selected Dickerson and Jurgens as potential Kelce replacements.
Dickerson settled in at left guard, and Jurgens at right guard.
The Eagles haven’t disclosed their plans for replacing the future Hall of Fame center now that Kelce has retired. The Birds might find their next center in free agency or the draft, or Dickerson or Jurgens could move from guard to center.
