Following the hiring of Raheem Morris as coach of the Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons haven’t officially announced Raheem Morris as their next head coach, but it’s widely assumed he was the chosen one. As such, we look forward to seeing who Morris chooses to complete his team.
In my opinion, only a limited number of the coaches that are now in Atlanta should stay; thus, it would be best for those who won’t be retained to leave and begin looking for other employment as soon as possible. Morris should move fast to fill most of his staff positions, given that January is almost over and at least one name has already been connected to him.
Now that you have this bookmarked as your go-to source for coaching staff news, let’s dive into the reports and rumors. Any names that are maintained or added to the staff will be bolded.
Zac Robinson joins the Falcons as offensive coordinator
On Saturday night, Raheem Morris hired Zac Robinson to be the Falcons’ next offensive coordinator, making him Atlanta’s second hire.See our story in its entirety here.
Interviews with the Falcons line-up coordinator
On January 27, 2024, at 6:26 p.m., the Falcons had a few prospects in line.
One is Cortez Hankton, the co-offensive coordinator at LSU. Hankton was a wide receiver in the NFL before coming to LSU, where he worked for five seasons as the wide receivers coach, pass game coordinator, and co-offensive coordinator. Although that experience hasn’t been at the NFL level, adding someone like Jayden Daniels could provide some interesting consistency.
According to sources, the Falcons have asked to interview LSU co-offensive coordinator Cortez Hankton for Raheem Morris’ open offensive coordinator position. He assisted in the development of two possible first-round picks, Brian Thomas and Malik Nabers.

Regarding defense, the Falcons are investigating former Eagles defensive coordinator Sean Desai, whose defense witnessed a dramatic decline and currently stands as the NFL’s worst third-down defense following a solid start to the season in his first coordinator position. By the end of the season, Desai was fired. Given that he is still undoubtedly a highly rated defensive coach, it might be beneficial for him to serve under a head coach who has a strong defensive background.
DC, a former Eagle Sean Desai, who is reportedly interviewing with the Bills and Falcons today, is a formidable defensive coordinator contender once more, according to sources. A possible swift comeback after Philadelphia
Marquice Williams held onto
Despite Arthur Smith’s departure and Raheem Morris’ arrival, Marquice Williams, the special teams coordinator for the Falcons, chose to remain with the organization after interviewing with the Patriots. This is fantastic news for the squad since, aside from a horribly ineffective return game and a few coverage mistakes, Williams led the team’s special teams unit in 2021 and 2022 and got good effort out of them this year.
Aden Durde surfaces as a potential defensive staff member.
2:13 PM on January 26, 24: This is a name to remember: Durde Aden. Durde, a former NFL Europe and NFL linebacker, joined Atlanta’s staff in 2018 and 2019 as a defensive quality control coach. He advanced to become the team’s outside linebackers coach in 2020. Durde has spent the last three seasons honing the Cowboys’ formidable defensive line. Durde might be considered for the defensive coordinator, run game coordinator, or just defensive line coach responsibilities in Atlanta, and it seems other teams are also interested. Durde has links to Morris from their shared days in Atlanta.
According to various sources, Green Bay, the Los Angeles Rams, and Atlanta have requested permission to talk with Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde. He joined the team in 2021 after working with Dan Quinn for five years in Atlanta, where he also collaborated with Raheem Morris, the new coach.
dated January 26, 2024, Todd ArcherDan Quinn presumably wants to bring Durde along, just like he did when he first got to Dallas, but Quinn doesn’t currently have a job set up. Morris could be able to take him away.
Top pick for offensive coordinator: Zac Robinson
It’s hard to ignore this one. Robinson, the Rams’ passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach, has received high marks for his work in Los Angeles and was being interviewed this offseason for offensive coordinator positions across the league. Robinson, who was close to Raheem Morris during their time together in Los Angeles, performed admirably as Jared Goff’s assistant quarterbacks coach and is recognized for having played a significant role in reviving the Rams’ passing game under Matthew Stafford.
League sources indicate that Falcons head coach Raheem Morris’ offensive coordinator in Atlanta will likely be Zac Robinson, the pass-game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Rams. Although Robinson will be a formidable contender, Morris will want to discuss his OC position with other coaches.January 25, 2024: Adam Schefter AdamSchefter
In my opinion, the Rams will attempt to get Ejiro Evero back to Los Angeles in order to take Raheem Morris’ spot as DC. Zac Robinson, the Rams’ pass-game coordinator, might go to Atlanta in retaliation; the two have a tight relationship, and Morris’ name was on the staff list during his interviews.

Given his reputation as a rising coach and prospective offensive coordinator who focuses on developing an efficient passing game, Robinson is expected to be on Morris’ shortlist, according to multiple insiders. Robinson would be a nice addition to Atlanta with a new quarterback. To help whoever quarterback the Falcons select and revive a dismal offense, Morris needs to make the right choices on that side of the ball; Robinson seems like a decent place to start.
