The head coach of the Detroit Lions says the controversial Week 17 loss is a blessing.
The Detroit Lions have just concluded one of the most contentious games in recent memory. They attempted a two-point conversion three times in a row before losing to the Dallas Cowboys. Before the final week of the regular season, head coach Dan Campbell has been quite open about his thoughts on the game and the rage he needs to suppress.
After making a few noteworthy remarks this week, Campbell is now singing a song about how the team’s defeat was a godsend because it will make them more determined and prepared for the postseason—and he could be right.
Dan Campbell of the Detroit Lions says the loss is a blessing.
In a recent press conference, Coach Campbell expressed his desire for the players to utilise this as fuel and transform it into drive when they get at the tournament. He declared:
We got up, packed our stuff, and headed out. We had a taste of that with this one, but there is yet hope. The tournament hasn’t even begun yet. Thus, this is — in my opinion, a blessing. I would also advise fans not to do it. You shouldn’t even accept that. We’ve only just begun.
Since most of us at home would be wondering how this loss is a blessing, he went on to make sure everyone understood his justification for his statements. He went on to elaborate on this proverb:
Campbell stated, “Now you know what that’s like. We were in it, we were in a tight game, we had a chance to win it, and we weren’t able to.” You have to seize that chance, guy, because you understand how it feels. You have no idea when that play will be produced. That’s why it might be the first or second quarter, or just before halfway.
It is always a good idea to find extra motivation and take things personally heading into the playoffs to give yourself every extra edge you can, and it just might be true. The squad will have to use this as fuel. Given Campbell’s coaching style, this might even be a gift in disguise, as it will give them even more drive to win if they play the Dallas Cowboys in the future.
