Stellato recently found himself in serious trouble after abruptly raising DeVito’s appearance fee from $10,000 to $20,000 at Coniglio’s Old Fashioned Pizzeria.Jersey Pizza soon after said on social media that DeVito would not be returning.
Stellato addressed the incident’s rumors during an interview on “The Claman Countdown,” claiming that everything was a “miscommunication.”
“Clearly, there was a misunderstanding. And I’m sorry if I sparked that. I did not intend to do that,” he replied. “Clearly, this is behind us now. Tommy went in and spoke with the owner, and we are really looking forward to doing a charity event there [Coniglio’s] next month. That will be fantastic for that area, and he is not charging for appearances.”
Despite the misunderstanding, DeVito visited with the owner of the pizza place and made apologies, notably without Stellato.
Putting the controversy aside, Stellato talked about what attracted him to DeVito many years ago, when he was a Syracuse college football player.
“I noticed assurance. I observed grit. Stellato remarked, “I saw a very proud young man of Italian heritage.” Additionally, I believe that projecting value is crucial when scouting talent. Although Tommy has seen several setbacks, nobody seems to remember that he was an Elite 11 quarterback.
