Aaron Jones is very optimistic about the future of the Green Bay Packers, despite the fact that the team’s 2023 season came to an unfortunate conclusion.

During an appearance on Larry McCarren’s show, Total Packers (via Bobby Kownack of NFL.com), Jones mentioned that something “amazing” was currently being constructed in Green Bay.

You’re aware of it. It is visible to you. The link, the chemistry, and the bar we’ve set. We should be aware of our expectations when we return next year, in my opinion, given the level we have set. We have very high standards. We have demonstrated this year that we are capable of doing so, game after game, so there is no excuse for us to fall short of that standard on a daily basis. We are able to assemble it. We’re going to be risky, I think. We will have a unique presence.

Jones might have had one more season in Green Bay thanks to his impressive season-ending performance. Due to a hamstring injury that kept him out of six games this season and his $17.6 million salary cost in 2024, he was once discussed as a possible cut candidate.

Jones enjoyed one of his greatest runs of the season after making his way back into the starting lineup in Week 15. Including both postseason games, he ran for over 100 yards in five straight games.

The Packers have every reason to believe that 2023 was just the beginning of something significant, even though it can be risky to presume that a team’s winning run at the end of one season will continue into the next.

Prior to this season, the average age of their 53-man roster was 24.98 years. Since the 2017 Cleveland Browns squad, which went 0-16, it has the youngest roster in the NFL in terms of average age (24.2 years old).

Compared to that Browns club, this Packers team was far more successful. They qualified for the playoffs and, in their 48-32 victory over the Dallas Cowboys, tied the franchise record for most points scored in a playoff game.

Furthermore, you were able to see this youthful roster’s development throughout the season. After a 3-6 start, they looked like they were going to be drafted in the top-10 in 2024. However, they won six of their last eight games.
