An injured Giant player has signed off.
When Tyrod Taylor and Daniel Jones were placed on injured reserve by New York earlier this season, Eason was a member of the Giants. The organization released Eason from the practice squad but kept Matt Barkley, who the Jaguars recently acquired when Trevor Lawrence had an injury, because Taylor is now back to playing.
Taylor’s back problem has labeled him as a limited participant on the Giants’ injury report for this week.
It is probable that Eason will sign a reserve or future contract the day following the Giants’ 2023 season ends. He will have the opportunity to study the team’s system over the off-season and be ready to play in the spring.
Eason was selected by the Colts from Washington in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Before moving to Washington during the 2017 season, he started his collegiate career at Georgia, where he played for two of his three seasons.
Eason completed 468 out of 782 throws (59.8%) for 5,590 yards, 39 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions during his three years in college.
Only two NFL games have the 6-foot-6, 231-pound Eason played in: one for the Colts in 2021 and another for the Panthers in 2022. In his two professional games, he is five of ten for 84 yards and two interceptions.
