Justin: The Red Sox official announced reshuffle of players earlier today
The Boston Red Sox have recently announced several roster changes aimed at improving their playoff chances as the 2024 season winds down. After a rough August where the team struggled with a 13-15 record, falling behind in the AL Wild Card race, the Red Sox took advantage of the MLB’s roster expansion in September, allowing teams to call up additional players to help in critical situations.
Two players were called up as part of this reshuffle: second baseman Enmanuel Valdez and right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart. Valdez, who has been up and down between the majors and Triple-A, brings potential offensive contributions despite inconsistent performance earlier in the season. His June was notably strong, batting .290 with a .977 OPS, though his defensive issues have limited his opportunities. The team hopes he can lock down second base, an area they’ve struggled to fill effectively throughout the season.
