Josh Allen, a Bills player, breaks his silence on the Stefon Diggs trade to the Texans with a heartfelt message.
The Buffalo Bills quarterback, Josh Allen, apparently didn’t know ahead of time that wide receiver Stefon Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans on April 3rd, just like the rest of the world, since Bills general manager Brandon Beane didn’t tell him.
Since the Diggs trade, Allen has remained silent about how he felt about losing one of his most important teammates. Finally, Allen talked about the tearful chat he and Diggs had on Thursday after the announcement.
“Yeah, I shared a text with him and got one back, just thanking him for everything that he did for me,” Allen said during the news conference on Thursday. “He will always have a particular place in my heart, be treated like a brother, and receive my warmest regards.
“My enduring recollection of Stef will be [that] he was the receiver that helped me become the quarterback that I am today,” Allen remarked afterwards. And for that, I will always be appreciative to him.
Given his close relationship with Diggs, Allen will surely struggle to adapt to this offensive adjustment, but he acknowledged that deals of this kind happen in the NFL.
“I think that’s simply the nature of the business,” Allen said. And as we enter Year 7, it just sort of is. Instead of making adjustments to the team, I’m paid to be the best quarterback I can be and to try to guide the players on this team.
Allen and Diggs were Buffalo teammates for four seasons. The Bills made it to the postseason each of the last four seasons, but they were never able to win the Super Bowl.
