NFL Draft insider cites Las Vegas in the most recent Raiders news After giving up on the quarterback in Round 1, the Raiders name two players as…
The Raiders have reportedly given up on a quarterback in the first round and have instead designated two players as their top targets, according to an NFL Draft insider.
For weeks, there have been whispers that the Las Vegas Raiders would make every effort to pick a quarterback in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, a new report suggests they may choose a different path.
When the Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo in free agency last year, it didn’t take them long to realize he wouldn’t be their long-term quarterback. Rookie Aidan O’Connell did a great job in relief during his 11 outings, but he also proved that he was not the quarterback the team would pick to replace Derek Carr.
For the previous few months, there have been rumors that the team, chosen at number thirteen in the first round, wants to select one of this year’s talented signal-callers. Unfortunately, there are a lot of clubs in need of a quarterback this month. Before JC Latham makes its selection, up to four quarterbacks might be chosen, and none of those teams seem willing to move out of their current positions.
According to a report published on Thursday by ESPN NFL Draft source Jordan Reid, fans of the Las Vegas Raiders should “expect offensive line or cornerback at No. 13 overall” in the 2024 NFL Draft. This could be the cause.
Will the Las Vegas Raiders target Terrion Arnold with the 13th pick in the first round?
He also gave them advice on which places to target in Round 1 and which players would be the best matches for them if they are unable to pull off a significant move up into the top 10.
Reid wrote, “Tieron Arnold would give Vegas a shutdown corner on the outside, and Pierce seemed to be attentively watching him at Alabama’s pro day last month.” But team insiders have also intimated to me that in addition to Kolton Miller, the Raiders may add another tackle. Taliese Fuaga is a natural fit given his style of play and the opening at right tackle, but JC Latham shouldn’t be written off just yet.
The offensive line and cornerback were the team’s major priorities before to the tournament this year. With their choice in the second round on April 26, they might still target quarterbacks like Michael Penix Jr. or Bo Nix.
