Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou fight has been postponed
“The PFL is thrilled to declare that Francis Ngannou’s comeback to MMA in the PFL pay-per-view category will be against the victor of the heavyweight superfight between PFL Champion Renan Ferreira and Bellator Champion Ryan Bader,” stated PFL CEO Peter Murray.
“Francis, a genuine icon in combat sports with a worldwide fan following, has generated considerable excitement. Like the rest of the MMA community, we await the revelation of his initial opponent, either Ferreira or Bader,” Murray added. Ngannou witnessed Ferreira’s victory over Maurice Greene last year, where the Brazilian secured the heavyweight title and a $1 million prize.
In his PFL debut, Ngannou cautioned about the potential impact of his limited MMA training. Meanwhile, Tyson Fury received blunt advice, being told he only has a “puncher’s chance” against Oleksandr Usyk. Bader is set to make his PFL debut against Ferreira, marking the promotion’s first event since acquiring Bellator in November. Ngannou expressed a preference for a bout against Ferreira over facing Bellator champion Bader, emphasizing Ferreira’s promising trajectory in the heavyweight division.
“I’ve been keeping a close eye on Ferreira for a while now, and that fight intrigues me more than a match-up with Bader. I’ve been stating for a year that Ferreira is the emerging talent in the heavyweight division. Even before the start of the PFL season, I recognized his unique qualities in terms of speed and accuracy. It’s evident that he possesses something special,” Ngannou commented on Ferreira’s skills.
