Mailbox: Readers have opinions on Michigan football cheating and want Jim Harbaugh fired
Brian, please: Jim Harbaugh’s “plausible deniability” is a farce because Pat Fitzgerald had to have known about the customary hazing at Northwestern, and Jim Tressel was aware that our players exchanged jerseys for tattoos.
If UM is as ethical as they claim to be, his removal ought to happen shortly.
To the editor: It is a misuse of the legal system for Michigan to try to use the legal system as an excuse for not adhering to Big Ten Conference standards. The league has the right to suspend the coach,
and Michigan is required by contract to abide by conference regulations.Michigan is depriving the people, who depend on the courts for justifiable reasons, of time and resources.
It’s not a problem that someone who would steal from the public would also steal signage from rival businesses. The offense in this case is Michigan’s misuse of the legal system.I don’t have anything against Michigan, but the public has to speak out against the abuse of a sovereign legal system by a strong organization.Jason Smith, Georgia’s Alpharetta
though: wouldn’t that be against the teachings of the deity the Michigan “temp” coach just acknowledged when he prayed to the Lord and then started swearing like a sailor on live television? Though it’s likely that Jesus didn’t swear, we don’t seem to know.
I wonder if the FCC will punish him for using profanity on live television.
To the editor: How can we continue to generate income and TV attention while penalizing U.
Michigan financially and appeasing and benefiting its Big Ten opponents? Next season, make every Michigan game against a Big Ten team an away game.
From Brian to all of you: I believe we’re all watching this strange tale unfold while enjoying a movie with popcorn in hand.
Like the tattoo scandal at Ohio State and the Reggie Bush incident at USC, it will go down in history as a major incident that will one day make a fantastic Netflix documentary.
James: To Rob’s point, the fact that a player of Galloway’s caliber isn’t a clear-cut first choice speaks volumes about the kind of TV talent Ohio State has developed.
For Brian: The majority of people are aware of the three University of Virginia football players who were shot and killed on November 13, 2022.Running back Mike Hollins was another player who was shot in the back but made a full recovery and rejoined the squad in March of last year.
It’s worthwhile to read his own account. Last year, UVA had a 3-7, 1-6 record. After losing to James Madison in a close game despite two touchdowns from Hollins and getting thrashed by Tennessee in the season opener, the Cavaliers didn’t appear much more promising.
Although the team’s record was 0-5 and things appeared hopeless, UVA had made strides, dropping two games by a combined 3 points against Boston College and North Carolina State. Their first victory finally came against William and Mary.
With three touchdowns from Hollins in an upset of previously unbeaten North Carolina and two more touchdowns from Hollins in forcing overtime before losing to Miami, the Cavaliers have recently earned respect in the ACC.
The remaining opponents of Virginia will have equally difficult tasks.
Every leader wants to finish strong so that his team has a chance to win, and Hollins bears this responsibility because he loves his old teammates and is committed to upholding their morality no matter what happens.
In the end, he and his teammates will triumph and represent the homage “UVA Strong 1-15-41,” honoring the lives of D’Sean Perry (41), Devin Chandler (15), and Lavell Davis Jr. (1). Three smiles they will always remember.
