Marquise Brown ‘Disappointed’ in Cardinals Offense
During their first drive, the Arizona Cardinals offense marched down the field, scored, and successfully converted a two-point play to take an early 8-7 lead over the Los Angeles Rams.
Arizona appeared ready for a shootout at State Farm Stadium, but the Cardinals wouldn’t score another touchdown until a few minutes remained in the 37-14 defeat.
The offense of Arizona, headed by Kyler Murray in his third game back, had a forgettable afternoon as they were unable to muster any momentum after their initial drive, as their next five possessions all lasted four plays or less.
In the locker room, Marquise Brown discussed the team’s performance with reporters:
Regarding the offensive setbacks following the touchdown on the first drive:
“I’m not happy. It’s difficult. There aren’t really many words to describe it other than disappointment.
Regarding the cause of the offense’s difficulties:
Not carrying out. That’s the actual event. That is what transpired because we were down, failed to convert on third down, had penalties, and failed to execute our plays.
Regarding whether the offense’s inability to obtain first downs caused frustration:
Indeed. I am aware that we may have had one or two possessions in the first quarter. It was just one of those games where you had to get points because the opposition was utilizing their time of possession, and when that was restricted, they scored a few goals, and things got difficult.
Regarding the offense’s potential solutions:
“On Monday, you begin. Practice is necessary, and you must apply it on the field after practicing. Practice cannot be skipped, and on game day, it cannot be neglected. These are the outcomes.
Regarding whether he believes the team is pressing when the offense isn’t able to maintain success:
Not at all. We are not pressuring, in my opinion. We’re not executing, in my opinion. We all need to be in agreement. You must play the game of inches, so you must be accurate.
Regarding the team’s mentality for the next five games:
“Just improve, both personally and as a group. Stay together, improve, and play as a team, and I think everything will work out.
