Gilbert Arenas, a former NBA player, has some amazing tales from his time in the league. His off-court anecdotes, which occasionally make the spectators laugh, are even more fascinating. He just disclosed the true account of how he gifted a phony diamond ring to his ex-girlfriend, Laura Govan.
Engagement rings are typically set with a diamond. In Arenas’ case, it was essentially the same, but the way he staged the pricey ring added attention.
In reference to the 15-karat diamond ring he purchased, Arenas said, “I paid, I think $395k or $495k for the real one.” “It had big stones. It had a big stone in the middle, then it had three stones on the side.”
The former Washington Wizards player revealed that the actual $400k diamond ring was used for his proposal. Regretfully, Arenas claims that they had a heated argument that ended their brief breakup.
“I thought, ‘That was a fucking waste of money,’ when we broke up. I’d like my ring returned. ‘How do I get my ring back?’ I asked myself. I have to get her back, but I’m going to have a phony one when she returns.
When Arenas disclosed that he had reconciled with Govan, it became clear that it had taken him years to replace the false ring. The former celebrity claimed that he was always free to change it, but he waited for the ideal moment. 2014 saw the end of their partnership, as they fought in court about who would get custody of their four kids.
Arenas revealed that he uploaded a picture of himself wearing the real diamond ring and that he continued to find time to make fun of his ex despite everything.
“Another complaint claimed that I had robbed her after that. She then took legal action to reclaim the ring.”
$7k was added to Gilbert Arenas’s $44k child support.
Gilbert Arenas and Govan are not married, although they have four children together. The former NBA player was ordered by the court to provide $20k in child support each month following their separation in 2014. However, because he was also covering their education expenses, Arenas raised the amount to $35k and then $44k.
Arenas claims that Govan felt compelled to take advantage of the fact that she could give more to him. The judge overseeing their case, however, had different ideas because the couple frequently appeared in court to discuss child support.
The judge eventually ordered it reduced to $7k per month.
