Alex Anthopoulos declared his intention to leave.
The contract of General Manager and President of Baseball Operations Alex Anthopoulos of the Atlanta Braves will be extended until the 2031 campaign. On Friday, the group made the news.
After joining the company in 2017, Anthopoulos held positions as Executive Vice President and General Manager until being elevated to his current position in February 2020.
The Braves have been led by Anthopoulos during six seasons, during which they have won six straight NL East division titles, posted a 515-354 record, and won the 2021 World Series.
The team’s success has stabilized thanks to the general manager’s acquisition of multiple long-term contracts for important players.
Being a member of the Braves is an amazing experience, and I’m proud of the accomplishments we have made as a team. “I am appreciative of the chance to oversee baseball operations going forward and to work toward bringing Atlanta another World Series,” Anthopoulos remarked.
Anthopoulos was formerly employed by the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers before joining the Braves.
