Branch, Melifonwu, and the Highest PFF-Graded Lions Defying Vikings
Against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, the Detroit Lions’ secondary put on a great display.
Nick Mullens of the Vikings was intercepted four times by the unit. Ifeatu Melifonwu and Brian Branch both had one selection, and Kerby Joseph had two.
Pro Football Focus reports that Melifonwu and Branch had some of the top grades of any players in Sunday’s match. Melifonwu had a game-winning interception, two sacks, and two pass breakups.
Romeo Okwara, the Lions’ best-graded defender, according to PFF, also recorded a sack.
For their performances, Taylor Decker, Frank Ragnow, Penei Sewell, and Graham Glasgow all received good PFF ratings. Running backs David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs put up a strong effort to rush for 135 yards against one of the top defences in the league.
Furthermore, quarterback Jarred Goff completed 30 of 40 passes for 257 yards and a touchdown with just one sack.
