On December 8, 2013, in Foxborough, Massachusetts, NFL football player Willis McGahee of the Cleveland Browns received medical attention off the field following an injury sustained during the fourth quarter against the New England Patriots. A possible class action complaint was filed in Baltimore on Thursday, February 9, 2023, by ten retired NFL players, including McGahee, accusing the league of lying, acting in bad faith, and flagrantly violating federal law by refusing disability compensation. On Thursday, March 21, 2024, a federal judge in Maryland denied the dismissal of a case filed against the NFL alleging egregious violations of the league’s disability plan by turning down legitimate claims.
