Official: Jordan Love Packers QB, Contract Talks Hit
Important Milestone
Love’s potential was known to the Packers because, during his NFL tenure as a backup, he occasionally displayed it. However, he now needed to perform it reliably as a full-time starter, which is not an easy task.
In 2023, Love surpassed all expectations by improving every week and helping the Packers go to the NFL playoffs, where they defeated the Cowboys in the Super Wild Card round.
The 25-year-old Love gained 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions on 64.2 percent of his passes. Love is undoubtedly due for a huge extension based on his performance and potential, and the Packers may now formally begin the contract-signing process.
Jordan Love may now be formally signed by the Packers to a new deal.
Love’s prior contract extension, which ended on May 2nd of last year, required the Packers and Love to wait a full year to sign a new agreement.
Before training camp, I expect a huge transaction to be completed.

The Packers chose not to pick up Love’s fifth-year option and instead signed him to a one-year, $13.5 million contract at this time last year. That is noteworthy in his specific situation since, per NFL regulations, an extension cannot be signed until a year has passed.
Having said that, Green Bay now has the option to sign Love to an extension, even though that doesn’t mean they will.
In March, reporters were informed by Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst that they had held “preliminary discussions” over a possible Love extension.
According to Spotrac, Love’s estimated market value is $191 million over four years, with an average compensation of $47.9 million.
Love would have the fifth-highest QB AAV if the former first-round choice were to sign a deal of this kind, ahead of Patrick Mahomes ($45 million), Kyler Murray ($46.1 million), and Deshaun Watson ($46 million).
However, it will position the Packers for long-term success if they can work out a contract with Love in the coming weeks.
