Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs is one of the most hated athletes in the NFL and online since his controversial commencement speech at Benedictine College.
In his lecture, Butker labeled the LGBTQ+ community a “deadly sin” and reminded the female graduates that their primary role was that of a “homemaker.”
Fans have now found an old clip of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes talking about Butker and their cold relationship.
Following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in February, Mahomes revealed on the Pat McAfee Show that he doesn’t talk to teammate Harrison Butker.
I don’t really talk to Harrison at all throughout the year, to be honest, man. “I just let him do his thing,” said Mahomes. “But I know that he’s going to put it through there if I can just get over that forty, man.” You may have noticed during the game that, under pressure, I gave up because I knew Harrison would make the play.
Mahomes reaffirmed that he doesn’t “say one thing to him” on the Pat McAfee Show.
“Only before the season and after the season,” was Mahomes’ reply.
In reference to Butker’s controversial move, the Chiefs have not answered.A web-based campaign has been started to cut Butker from the squad. The petition currently has over 80,000 signatures as of this writing.
Butker is one of the best kickers in the league, having made over 95% of his field goals. In addition, he set the record for the longest field goal ever made in a Super Bowl.
