RAIDERS UP FOR SALE AS TOM BRADY MAKES A FORMAL BID.
Birmingham City minority owner Tom Brady’s new takeover deal ‘moving forward’
Tom Brady, a minority owner of Birmingham City, is progressing with his efforts to acquire a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders.
The NFL team, valued at approximately $6.2 billion according to Forbes, has been a target of Brady’s interest for some time. The former NFL star is seeking to invest in the sport he excelled in as a player, transitioning into a key figure in the boardroom.
Brady initially reached an agreement with the LA Raiders in May 2023, but there has been a notable delay in finalizing the deal, requiring a membership vote for approval. Originally scheduled for October of the previous year, the vote is now slated for May.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell gave an upbeat update, saying, “I would not say there is been a delay; we just go through a very thorough process,” even though the deal is still awaiting approval. Goodell expressed that progress has been made and that communication with the Raiders’ side has been positive.
The agreement for Brady to purchase a 10 percent stake in the LA Raiders is advancing, with Raiders owner Mark Davis expressing confidence in Brady’s eventual acquisition. Davis remarked, “We’re excited for Tom to join the Raiders,” highlighting the significance of Brady becoming only the third player in NFL history to become an owner, as reported by ESPN.
If Brady does secure a stake in the Raiders, it will not affect his responsibilities with Birmingham City. Having been appointed chairman of the club advisory board in August, Brady will continue in that capacity, albeit with a busier schedule involving more commitments in the United States.
