At the Bahrain Grand Prix, tensions flared between Christian Horner, the team principal of Red Bull, and Jos Verstappen, father of Red Bull’s star driver Max. Allegations of “inappropriate behavior” against Horner surfaced but were dismissed following an internal investigation. However, just a day later, leaked texts and images purportedly involving Horner and a colleague emerged.
Horner has vehemently denied any wrongdoing and refuses to engage in speculation, asserting his continued leadership for the upcoming Saudi Arabia race. However, Verstappen Sr. has openly criticized Horner, citing their rift in Bahrain. He expressed concerns about the team’s unity, stating that the situation is detrimental.
Denying any involvement in the leaks, Verstappen emphasized his son Max’s commitment to Red Bull until 2028 and dismissed any personal interest in stirring controversy. The Verstappen family’s significant influence within Red Bull is evident, with Max being the leading figure in Formula 1, having clinched three consecutive world championships.
Allegedly, both Verstappens align closely with Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, fueling tensions with Horner. Additionally, underlying discord exists between Thai majority owners and Austrian executives.
Despite internal turmoil, Red Bull’s performance on track remains strong, with Max Verstappen securing victory in Bahrain, leading every lap from pole position. Sergio Perez’s second-place finish further solidified Red Bull’s dominance, with Horner emphasizing the team’s unity and determination amidst the external distractions
