Red Flag: Raiders Received Warning About Their Intention on…
Adding Award-Winning 22-Year-Old QB
The approaching 2024 NFL Draft brings uncertainty for the Las Vegas Raiders regarding their quarterback situation. With various roster needs, the team might opt to delay selecting a quarterback until later rounds.
However, according to Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report, this strategy may not be advisable. While Tulane’s Michael Pratt could be an option in later rounds, his limited potential might not be the ideal fit for Las Vegas. Knox suggests that while Pratt possesses qualities suited for an NFL backup or occasional starter, he may not challenge O’Connell for the starting position. Hence, the Raiders should explore other options in the draft.
Pratt shares similar strengths with Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew, excelling in ball security and accurate passing from the pocket. Nevertheless, his decision-making and lack of standout attributes could restrict his ceiling, as noted by Derrik Klassen of the B/R Scouting Department.
Regarding potential first-round picks, Washington’s Michael Penix Jr. emerges as a possible candidate for the Raiders. Despite concerns about injuries and age, Penix offers NFL-level arm talent and impressive athleticism, making him an enticing option with significant upside.
However, the decision to add a quarterback presents challenges for the Raiders, given their position at No. 13 in the draft. With uncertainty surrounding Penix’s injury history and age, the Raiders may consider waiting until next year’s draft, where quarterback demand may not be as high.
