Rams coach Sean McVay says there are no immediate plans to replace the placekicker.
Not every one of Ram Lucas Havrisik’s kicking outings has been improving.
This season’s off-week was more advantageous for the Rams than for any other NFL team.
The Rams have won five straight games—including triumphs over the Washington Commanders and the New Orleans Saints in the space of five days—since returning from their mid-November open date, and they have surged into the postseason picture.
The Rams will now have a weekend off after defeating the Saints on Thursday night before starting to get ready for their game against the New York Giants in New Jersey on December 31.
Still, there are certain issues to consider. The kicking game is still iffy up front.
Three field goals were made by Lucas Havrisik, although he missed a 47-yard attempt that would have resulted in a 10-point swing. Havrisik missed a field goal from less than fifty yards for the second straight game.
Elliott: Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams of the Rams are displaying Hollywood indications; the Saints can see why.
Since taking over for Brett Maher, Havrisik has made 15 of 20 field goals, but he has only made two of the six attempts he has made between 40 and 49 yards.
Nonetheless, head coach Sean McVay announced during a video conference with the media on Friday that the Rams will not add another kicker to challenge Havrisik or take his spot.
He stated, “At this time, we’re not interested in it.”
McVay cited the loss of long snapper Alex Ward, who has a neck ailment and is placed on injured reserve. For the past two games, Carson Tinker has been the long snapper.
Since he is the one who receives the stat, McVay stated, “I know the kicker is the one that everyone wants to kind of blame on, ‘Oh, it’s a missed kick.'” However, there are numerous layers to it. Those are the things we’ll be on the lookout for as we try to determine how best to tighten up our entire business.
But other than moving forward with Lucas and assisting him in maintaining the best chance of success with all that that process and procedure include, that’s not anything we’re thinking about at this time.
Rams’ comeback and victory over the Saints are emblazoned with Matthew Stafford’s thumbprints.
The Rams would be guaranteed a position in the NFC playoffs if they defeated the Giants and the San Francisco 49ers in their last two regular-season games. According to McVay, the Rams will be able to “refresh and reset” during the “mini-bye.”
The coach remarked, “I have complete faith and confidence in this group’s maturity to enjoy their families for the next few days but return ready to rock ‘n’ roll on Tuesday and get ready for the Giants.”
The Rams’ offence saw standout performances from quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Puka Nacua, and running back Kyren Williams in their 30-22 victory over the Saints. Among the defensive standouts were Jordan Fuller, a safety, and linebacker Ernest Jones.
