Rest in Peace: The major player for the Georgia Bulldogs who passed away in a car accident is being buried today…
College football coaches have always had to put in a lot of physical work. Choosing the players of the future while attempting to get as much as you can out of the group you have now in order to win on Saturdays has never been simple. However, most college coaches agree that it takes longer now than it did in the past.
Because of the combination of their name, image, and likeness with the NCAA transfer site, college coaches seldom ever have time for anything outside football or their families.
After almost a full year and a half during and after COVID restrictions, it took Smart some time to understand that coaches had suddenly changed from spending time with their families to visiting the campus and having frequent recruiting schedules.
Smart disclosed that UGA hosted players every day from June 1st until June 28th, 2021, when the NCAA loosened the regulations, during a coaches clinic in Texas on Tuesday.
“I was ready to give up and retire,” stated Smart. “I was done,”To combat that, Smart granted his staff Mondays off in June of this year so they could all take time for relaxation. According to sources with FootballScoop.com, Smart reportedly gave his coaches work assignments for Friday afternoons rather than Friday mornings so that they could focus on recruiting on Friday evenings.
Right now, Smart is in the midst of what seems to be a quite substantial contract extension. Since he took home a national trophy, it stands to reason that he has gotten past these thoughts of giving up on the game.
