Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have reunited in style for an unexpected Louis Vuitton advertisement. As they started their hike up a snow-covered mountain, the two displayed their friendship.
When Federer and Nadal reconnected at the Spaniard’s academy in Mallorca earlier this year, it created quite a stir in the tennis community. In order to pique fans’ curiosity and start rumors about a possible project in the works, the 20-time Grand Slam champion also posted a photo of them posing with their agents.
Wearing fashionable clothes, they set off on a mountain hike, with the Swiss virtuoso making light of Nadal’s lack of experience in the wintry landscape.
Federer remarked, “I don’t think he knows what’s about to hit him.”
The two made a stylish impression as they posed for photos together in front of the gorgeous snowy setting.
Federer was right when he observed that Rafael Nadal, the 20-time Grand Slam champion, isn’t accustomed to the snow.
“Unlike Roger, I’m not accustomed to the snow. Nadal remarked, “He lives in the snow.”
“It’s his first time seeing snow,” the Swiss said.
In addition, Nadal made the humorous admission that he was deaf, which made the Swiss icon chuckle. The Spaniard did admit that he wouldn’t want to spend a whole week in the snowy conditions, but he still said that he had loved the experience.
“I’m having a great time shooting, even though I can’t feel my ears. Although it would be different for me if I had to stay here for a week, right now I truly appreciate it,” he remarked.
“Back in the day, we couldn’t stand each other”—Roger Federer on the evolution of his relationship with Rafael Nadal
During a Uniqlo event last year, Roger Federer discussed the development of his relationship with Rafael Nadal with fans. The legendary Swiss player revealed that Nadal was reserved when they initially got to know one another and that he often followed his lead out of respect.
But Federer revealed that as Nadal developed as a person, their friendship deepened, and their teams and families got along just fine.
“After that, I watched Rafa develop into a more confident guy and we began playing tennis every other weekend. Of course, we developed a rivalry, but we were always friendly. Not just the two of us, but also our teams: my sister, his sister; my parents, his parents; my coaches, his coaches,” he remarked.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion further disclosed that when they got older, their discussions turned to similar experiences with marriage and parenthood.
The former World No. 1 highlighted that they had quickly become friends despite their initial inability to stand one another and stated that he hoped Nadal would return to the sport.
“We also began to value our former rivalry, which we nearly miss now that we play each other every other weekend. We definitely couldn’t bear each other back then, but he’s a wonderful man, and I hope he can visit again,” he remarked.
In fact, Rafael Nadal made the much-awaited return during the clay court season, and he is getting ready to play in the French Open in 2024.
When asked about how he will want his career to be remembered,.
“At the end, what will make me feel really proud and happy is, when I leave this world, if the tournament directors, the people who work on the tournaments, staff, and ATP, say good things about who I was on the tour or who I am as a person more than as a tennis player,” Nadal said in response to a question about how he wanted his career to be remembered.
“Because as tennis players, at the end, we have the titles, we have the successes, and that’s how it is,” the 37-year-old went on. I accomplished more than I could have ever imagined.
