It very well may have been Mayfield’s final opportunity to establish himself as a starting quarterback in this league when he took a risk on a one-year, $4 million contract with the Bucs during the offseason.

With an NFC South title and a postseason triumph over the reigning NFC champion Eagles, Mayfield’s fourth team in three years proved to be just what he needed.

Many teams in the NFL are in need of a new quarterback, but if Evans seems this optimistic about his quarterback returning, then it seems like he knows something.

According to Spotrac, Tampa has roughly $22.4 million in cap space right now. If they decide to bring Baker back, we’ll see how they will handle what should be a significant salary increase for their quarterback.
