Rival Teams Challenge The Raiders, Over Signature Of A Standout FSU Football Star.

The 2024 NFL Draft is only a little over a month away, and teams are hard at work on their final scouting and evaluations of prospects who could be representing them in a few weeks. This is a draft with plenty of polarizing quarterbacks, from the top to the bottom of the group.

It remains to be seen where former Florida State star quarterback Jordan Travis fits into the equation after a season-ending leg injury kept him from participating in the pre-draft process. The unfortunate timing hasn’t dampened Travis’s spirits, as he’s attacked his rehab and is in a position to be fully healthy by the beginning of the summer.

Travis has progressed to the point where he’s able to jog on an anti-gravity treadmill. He threw on the field earlier this week for the first time since his injury in November. Instead of setting a timeframe, Travis simply kept his focus on trying to do his best to make progress every day.

“Honestly, I told them I didn’t really want a timeframe. I wanted to just take it day by day and push myself to get better every day. They didn’t really give me a timeframe until really recently,” Travis said during his Pro Day interview. “I think that’s pretty fast, honestly. I just wanted to push myself every day, didn’t want to have a set thing in my head, be upset about not making that time schedule, so I mean, I feel like it was better just to take it day by day for sure.”

Multiple franchises have shown an interest in Travis since his participation at the East-West Shrine Bowl and NFL Combine. He recently had a top-30 visit with the Las Vegas Raiders and has another one scheduled with the New York Jets before the draft.

The Raiders and Jets could both use a prospect to develop moving forward. The Jets would be an intriguing opportunity for Travis to learn behind Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor.

“I’ve talked to a few teams,” Travis said. “Meeting with the Jets in a couple weeks, met with the Raiders the other day, so yeah, there’s been a couple teams I spoke to. I’m just trying to take it all in, it’s just a blessing to be in this position, so I’m so grateful.”

There is hope that Travis will be able to showcase some of his skills on the field prior to the draft festivities in Detroit. That may happen in April as he continues to improve and recover.

“I believe I will. Sometimes in April, I don’t know the set date yet, but I think I’ll be out there for sure. Moving around out there the other day, I felt good. In the training room, I’m moving pretty well,” Travis said. “I think I’ll be able to do it sometime in April. I think that’s a great way to just go out and show teams that I’m getting better every single day. That’s how I am; I grind every single day just to be the best I can be, so I’ll be good here soon.”

Travis is coming off a record-setting career in Tallahassee, ending his time with the Seminoles as the all-time leader in total touchdowns (98), total yards of offense (10,665 yards), rushing yards by a QB (1,950) yards, and QB rushing touchdowns (31). He’s the only player in program history to be ranked in the top 10 on the Seminoles’ career passing touchdown and rushing touchdown lists.

During his college career, Travis appeared in 49 games, with 38 starts, and completed 637/1,027 passes for 8,715 yards with 66 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He also rushed 417 times for 1,950 yards with 31 more scores, while adding three catches for 11 yards and a touchdown.
