Roy Keane Weighs In: Manchester United’s Managerial Pursuit Intensifies as Gareth Southgate Emerges as Contender

In order to replace Erik ten Hag, Manchester United may name a new manager in the summer, and Roy Keane has expressed his preferences.

The season hasn’t been so good for the Red Devils, has it?

They are not likely to place in the top five of the Premier League; they dropped out of the Champions League in the group stage, and their style of play still lacks a distinct identity.

Ten Hag is now under a great deal of pressure as a result, and in recent weeks, several managers have been connected to the Manchester United job.

On one of them, Keane has offered his opinion.

Roy Keane issues a decision regarding Manchester United’s managerial pursuit.

Erik ten Hag has been with Manchester United for more than 18 months, during which time he has achieved some success, most notably the League Cup victory the previous year.

We think the Dutchman should be doing much more, but he does deserve some credit for the work he has done, particularly with the younger players.

It is just not acceptable for a team of Manchester United’s caliber that they are in worse shape today than they were at the end of the last campaign.

Because of this, Ten Hag’s future is uncertain, and Gareth Southgate, the England manager, is one of the names connected to the Manchester United position.

ESPN recently disclosed that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his staff are considering the 53-year-old as a possible replacement for Ten Hag.

According to Roy Keane, he could see this move coming.

On Stick to Football, he stated, “Yeah, I could see that happening.”

“If he has a strong championship, everyone is speculating that he will likely depart England this summer and wonders if they may win it. Should they fail to do so, you may have finished your race.

He’s acquainted with Dan Ashworth and has collaborated with him in the past. Yes, I could see that taking place.

Gareth Southgate will not be popular with most Manchester United supporters.

In theory, Gareth Southgate has done a fantastic job coaching England, guiding them to both the World Cup semifinals and the Euro final.

He has excellent relationships with most of his players, and they all have nothing but positive things to say about him.

Still, there are significant differences between managing Manchester United and managing England. Fans generally agree that this would be a horrible appointment, and it would be absurdly more difficult.

Anton Ferdinand thinks Southgate’s unattractive style of play will “vexe” United supporters.

Although the events over the next several months will be interesting to watch, Southgate is by no means a favorite among the supporters.
