Ryan Grubb left Alabama football to become the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.
Ryan Grubb’s tenure as the offensive coordinator for the Alabama football team was brief. The Seattle Seahawks will use the play-caller in the same capacity, according to reports from ESPN and 247Sports on Friday night.
Grubb was slated to lead Alabama’s offense in 2024 following Kalen DeBoer’s appointment as head coach in January. As of January 10, legendary coach Nick Saban has retired.
Although Grubb never took office as Alabama’s offensive coordinator, he was spotted out and about recruiting for the Crimson Tide while wearing Alabama paraphernalia.
Grubb was the offensive coordinator under DeBoer in Washington for the previous two seasons, but when Mike Macdonald, the defensive coordinator for the Ravens, was just selected as the new coach of Seattle, he made the decision to bring Grubb back to Seattle. Additionally, the two collaborated in Sioux Falls, Eastern Michigan, and Fresno State.
Grubb’s loss is significant, even if Alabama should be able to find a worthy replacement for the offensive coordinator position. Over the past few years, he has orchestrated some of the top offenses in the country.
Jake Haener, a quarterback with the New Orleans Saints who played for Grubb at Fresno State, said of Ryan, “I think he’s one of the finest, if not the best, play callers in college football.” “Don’t get me wrong, Ryan really holds that offense to a standard and makes people accountable. Kalen is an amazing coach and has just as good of an offensive mind. In my six years of collegiate football and my first season in the NFL, I have not found a coach who is even somewhat like him.”
